Church Collections and Fund-Raising Events. The Parish Policy

Church Collections and Fund-Raising Events.
The Parish Policy.

Collections in the Church during Mass.

There are 6 collections every month in the Church during Mass.

The weekly Offertory collection is for the upkeep of the parish.

There are two other collections each month, usually after Communion. One is for the upkeep of the priests and the rest are for various diocesan causes.

There is a special collection at Christmas, Easter and Autumn for Diocesan Priests’ Welfare.

Church Door Collections.

There are 3 Church Door collections annually after Mass for special parish ministries and outreach: for The Apostolic Society, St. Joseph’s Young Priests, and Hope 03.  The St. Vincent de Paul Society have a collection every Sunday and have a special Christmas collection.

Once a year there is a request from a Missionary Order for a Church Door collection which is supported by the diocese and the parish.

Fund-Raising Events.

All week-end fund-raising events during, before and after mass times (which may involve cake sales etc.) will take place in the Parish Centre and will be limited to one every month. Those involved must be associated with the life of the parish. Fund-raising events will take place on a week-end when there is no second collection in the church or a Church Door collection apart from the weekly St Vincent de Paul collection.  Applications should be made to the Parish Secretary (90812238 option 2) to see if there is a date available. If a date is available the applicant must contact the Booking Secretary of the Parish Centre to book a room (90812238 option 4).

Regardless of what fund-raising event is taking place in the Parish Centre the Parish Coffee Morning will take place in St. Mochumma’s Room after the 10.30 and 12.00 masses as usual. The purpose of this gathering is to ‘meet and greet’ parishioners and welcome new parishioners. It is not an occasion for collecting money.

The reason for the Parish Policy on Church Collections and Fund-Raising Events is to avoid exploiting the parishioners who attend Mass and who support the parish financially.

We thank all parishioners who contribute so generously to the upkeep of the parish and the various collections mentioned above.
